Do I have to force the post down to enter the space?
The MySpot 120 has 2 separate hinges. The normal operation hinge allows effortless rotation of the post once the hinge is unlocked with a key. The "defense" hinge, on the other hand, is spring loaded when the post is standing up. If an excessive force is applied to the vertical, locked, post, the defense hinge will yield to every increasing force until the post will be forced down to the ground. As soon as the force is reduced or released, the barrier will spring back up to the locked up position.
