Can MySpot200 be used to control access to a small parking lot?

E-mail Print PDF

Yes.  But...

MySpot 200 can be used for access control of a small parking lot. One limitation is the life of the batteries. There are 5 D cells that power the radio and the small lock motor. The batteries are good for 13,000 cycles. So, the more cars share the parking space, the more daily use there will be and the shorter the time between battery replacements.

As a rule of thumb, we use 3 activations per day per car. In a school or business environment, there are 5 work days a week. A 20-car parking area will generate 20x3x5 = 300 activations per week. 13000/300 = 43 weeks.

For this application (and we have a few worldwide using it like that) we provide common code transmitters (HT433CC) so all have the same code and there is no limit on how many transmitters need to be paired with the control unit.
